Ask Ustaz Haniff #4: I Can’t Recite the Qur’an Well; Can I Perform the Umrah?

Query:

I intend to perform the Umrah, and I am trying to save up for the trip.

Ustaz, I am not very fluent in reciting the Qur’an. Is it possible for me to perform the Umrah and read the supplications in romanised form (instead of reading it in Arabic)? Other than that, I am also putting in effort in attending classes to learn to read the Qur’an.

Response:

It is not a condition of Umrah for you to be able to read the Qur’an fluently, and it is not necessary for you to wait until you have learned to read the Qur’an before performing Umrah.

The rituals of Umrah do not require one to read the Qur’an. It is sufficient for you to recite zikr (remembrance) and supplications (while performing Umrah).

You may recite any zikr (remembrance) in Arabic that you are familiar with. For making du’a/ supplication, you can just read them out in Malay.

[Editor: Do consider the Qur’anic literacy and recitation programmes that Perdaus conducts for adults, Kelas Agama Dewasa, or the latest intake for Teknik Cordobana express course (coming soon).]

Tanya Ustaz Haniff #4: Tak Lancar Mengaji, Boleh Tunaikan Umrah?

Soalan:

Ustaz, saya tidak lancar membaca Al-Qur’an.

Jawapan:
