Introduction

Ustaz Dr Muhammad Haniff bin Hassan is the lecturer who also developed the Contemporary Reflections of the Qur'an series.

His answers on various religious queries on Facebook are republished here in the Perdaus blog.

Ustaz Haniff was former Manager for the Perdaus Secretariat.

Biodata

Ustaz Haniff is currently a Fellow at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS).

He holds a Ph.D. in Strategic Studies from RSIS (formerly known as the Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies), Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

He received his early education at Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah and then pursued his higher education at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and graduated with honours in Syar'iah and Civil Law.

He is also a well-known and well-respected figure in the local Muslim community. Some of his community involvements include:

  • Member, the Syariah Appeal Board under Islamic Religious Council of Singapore
  • Member, the Islamic Advisory Board for HSBC Insurance (Singapore) from 2000 to 2014
  • Member, the Association of Islamic Scholars and Religious Teachers Singapore (PERGAS)
  • Member, Board of Governance of Madrasah Irsyad Zuhri Al-Islamiah.

Ustaz Haniff is a prolific writer. He has contributed to a variety of articles in Berita Harian and The Straits Times, and has also published several books and pamphlets.
